ABOUT ME:

I have over 20 years of experience supporting Arts, Education, and Social Services organizations through educational and inspirational puppet productions, curriculum development, grant writing, fundraising, and as an Art Instructor for children aged 2-7 years. My doctorate is in Comparative Mythology, hence my nickname “Dr. Puppet Lady.” ♥ Please view my Curriculum Vitae for more details about my professional experience and education!

I have several career goals:

  • To develop puppet performances, curriculum, and children’s books utilizing multicultural mythology to address trauma and encourage conflict resolution
  • To publish articles and books researching the therapeutic benefits of comparative mythology and performance art
  • To teach Mythological Traditions in higher education

Right now I’m hard at work on Hero’s Welcome, a production originally created for my doctoral dissertation which explores themes of acceptance and familial reintegration when a parent is wounded (physically, emotionally and/or psychologically) during military deployment. Created specifically for the children of wounded veterans, Hero’s Welcome features two styles of puppets: Korean rod-style puppets for “Tiger’s Whisker” and Scandinavian glove-style puppets for “Tyr’s Hand.” Thanks to support from the Regional Arts & Culture Council in the form of a Project Grant, and a highly successful KickStarter campaign, Hero’s Welcome will enjoy world premiere performances November 5th & 6th , 2011, in honor of Veteran’s Day.
